i love this idea of sending postcards to ourselves! this seems to create an interesting timeloop - as we grow more curious about & receptive to the present as postcard, could these moments themselves be postcards from the future? i sense a circle here of positive reinforcement for mindfulness, appreciation and curiosity which is a lovely thing.

Ooh I never thought about these as being postcards from the future, that's so cool! Reminds me of Autobiography of a Yogi where he talked about having these visions of these two centers he would one day set up.

your words remind me of another idea that crossed my mind in japan - the concept of “pending hugs”. basically was feeling lonely in japan and realized i hadnt hugged in a full month. it struck me that instead of focusing on the absence, i could visualize all the “pending” hugs of the future, and embrace the present as the breath of anticipation before the hugs complete. just feels good to think at any moment in time you have dozens and hundreds of pending hugs coming your way :)

ever since i was pretty little i would consciously take photographic memories of moments & places that i hoped to remember forever - maybe i was sending postcards to myself this whole time! 🥰💕

hmm i think scenes of playing in my backyard with my older sister when I was little! I really looked up to her and making her laugh was always really joyful for me 🥰 How about you?
